Cleaning your timber decking isn’t as hard as you may think.

Of course you will want to maintain your decking after investing so much time and effort into it! Chandler’s Ford Timber have a simple and inexpensive solution for you to keep your decking in prime condition.

Cleaning your decking

Start by investing in a good timber decking cleaner that will remove algae, mould, grease, moss and dirt – this alone will make your decking appear much brighter and cleaner. Try to do this twice a year: once in spring to prepare for the summer months and once more in autumn for winter.

First step: First you will need to remove any loose or large accumulations of moss or algae with a stiff brush, or a scraper, and brush away the loose debris on the decking. Prepare the cleaner by following the instructions on the packaging, and apply it to the decking using a brush, a sprayer of watering can with a rose.

Second step: You will need to act fast and scrub the surface with a stiff brush after you have put on the cleaner, and allow it to stand for a while.

Third step: Thoroughly rinse off the cleaner using a hose and clean water. Ensure that you have gotten rid of all of the remaining residue then allow at least a fortnight for the decking to fully dry prior to adding a protective coating.
